阮雄長老生平

我們敬愛的阮雄長老於2026年1月19日清晨在美國加州Cupertino市家中安息主懷,享年81歲。

出生,成長和教育

阮長老於1944年11月25日出生在仍在戰亂中的中國四川省重慶市。父親阮子平和母親周巧二人均早期留學日本,並且皆為老師。
阮長老進入小學前隨父母搬去台灣,在台灣北投唸小學。1957年隨父母搬去東帝汶至1960年,畢業於東帝汶中學。
1960年隨父母搬去香港,1965年畢業於香港慈幼中學。1965年考進國立台灣大學電機系,1969年畢業並留校任研究助理。
1970年考進美國加州大學洛杉磯分校(UCLA),1973年碩士班畢業。
2024年9月獲普世宣教神學院頒受榮譽神學博士學位。

婚姻和家庭

1972年阮長老於台北懷恩堂在周聯華牧師見証下與劉燕華姊妹結為夫妻。
1974年女兒阮英(Jenny)在洛杉磯橙縣出生。
2008年阮英和Leo Chan 結為夫妻, 育有兩個兒子Myles 和Daxton。
1977年兒子阮定(Dean)在洛杉磯橙縣出生。
2003年阮定和Sumiko姊妹結為夫妻,育有兩個女兒Kaia 和Mika。

工作和創業

阮長老從洛杉磯到舊金山灣區,35年職業生涯,最終從國際知名的Sandisk公司資深副總裁的職位上退休,全力投入神的大使命。

信仰,事奉和獻身

阮長老1976年在洛杉磯橙縣浸信會信主受洗歸主名下。1978年全家般至灣區並開始參加寇世遠監督主持的查經班,生命被聖經中神的話語復興,讀聖經如獲至寶。

1995-2026年阮長老全時間投入教會的服事及美國本土和國外宣教,培訓和救災。國外腳踨到過:中國,台灣,日本,泰國,緬甸,塞班,烏克蘭等地。阮長老夫妻二人在緬甸經濟支持當地多位神學生,傳道人及重建十多棟倒塌的教堂。近十多年,阮長老與阮師母每年都前往緬甸的緬訓傳道人神學院教課。1989年寇世遠監督按立阮長老為基督之家的長老。

阮長老曾先後擔任各神學院和福音機構的董事,其中包括北美華神,基督工人神學院,美福神學院,北聖神學院,華傳等。2001年美福神學院初創時,阮長老與阮師母看到美福神學院的需要,立刻賣掉在洛杉磯的第一個家,將所得全部投入購買美福的校址。

2002-2023年間,阮長老與阮師母每年前往烏克蘭宣教,帶領栽培了無數愛主的弟兄姊妹成為傳道人。2022年初烏俄戰爭爆發,很多烏克蘭的學生逃往羅馬尼亞和德國,阮長老與阮師母又前往探訪並教導。

近年不少學生和商人回國,阮長老與阮師母和同工們仍應邀前往探望,許多人及其家人因此信主。阮長老夫妻同心同行,在基督之家服事主直到如今。

Life and Ministry of Elder Jack Yuan

Our beloved Elder Jack Yuan peacefully entered the presence of the Lord at his home in Cupertino, California, on the morning of January 19, 2026, at the age of 81.

Birth, Upbringing, and Education

Elder Yuan was born on November 25, 1944, in Chongqing, Sichuan Province, China, during a time of war. His father, Tzu-Ping Yuan, and his mother, Chiao Chou, both studied in Japan in their early years and were educators. Before elementary school, he moved with his parents to Taiwan and attended elementary school in Beitou. From 1957 to 1960, the family lived in East Timor, where he graduated from East Timor Secondary School. In 1960, they relocated to Hong Kong, and in 1965 he graduated from Salesian College. He entered the Department of Electrical Engineering at National Taiwan University in 1965, graduating in 1969 and remaining as a research assistant. In 1970, he was admitted to the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA), earning his master’s degree in 1973. In September 2024, he was awarded an Honorary Doctor of Theology by Logos Evangelical Seminary.

Marriage and Family

In 1972, ElderJack Yuan married Anna Yen Hua Liu at Grace Baptist Church in Taipei, with Rev. Lien-Hua Chow officiating. Their daughter, Jenny Yin Yuan, was born in Orange County, California, in 1974. In 2008, Jenny married Leo Chan, and they have two sons, Myles and Daxton Chan. Their son, Dean Yuan, was born in Orange County in 1977. In 2003, Dean married Sumiko Yuan (nee Kanzaki), and they have two daughters, Kaia and Mika Yuan.

Career and Entrepreneurship

Elder Yuan spent 35 years of his professional career from Los Angeles to the San Francisco Bay Area, eventually retiring as Senior Vice President of the internationally renowned company SanDisk, in order to devote himself fully to God’s Great Commission.

Faith, Ministry, and Dedication

In 1976, Elder Yuan accepted Christ and was baptized at an Orange County Baptist church. In 1978, his family moved to the Bay Area and began attending Bible studies led by Bishop Andrew Chou. His life was renewed by the Word of God, and reading Scripture became his greatest treasure.

From 1995 to 2026, Elder Yuan served full-time in church ministry, domestic and international missions, training, and disaster relief. His mission work took him to China, Taiwan, Japan, Thailand, Myanmar, Saipan, Ukraine, and beyond. In Myanmar, Elder Yuan and his wife financially supported the rebuilding of more than ten churches. For over a decade, he taught annually at a theological seminary for pastors in Myanmar. In 1989, Bishop Andrew Chou ordained him as an elder of Christ’s Home Church.

Elder Yuan served as a board member for numerous seminaries and gospel organizations, including China Evangelical Seminary North America, Christian Workers Theological Seminary, Logos Evangelical Seminary, North America Bible Seminary, and Chinese Mission. In 2001, during the founding of Logos Evangelical Seminary, he sold his first home in Los Angeles and devoted all the proceeds to purchasing the seminary campus.

From 2002 to 2023, Elder Yuan and Mrs. Yuan traveled annually to Ukraine for missionary work, discipling and training countless believers to become pastors. After the outbreak of the Russia–Ukraine war in 2022, he repeatedly visited refugees in Romania and Germany to encourage and teach them. In recent years, many students and businesspeople returned to Ukraine, and Elder Yuan and Mrs. Yuan continued to visit them at their request. Many of their families and friends came to faith in Christ. Elder Yuan and his wife served the Lord faithfully together at Christ’s Home Church until this day.
